Things to do near Powdermills
Gunpowder
Take a walk to the ruins of the 19th century gunpowder factory that gave the pottery its name.
Ice-Cream
Visit nearby Postbridge, buy an ice-cream from the village shop and dangle your toes in the East Dart, or play pooh-sticks under the medieval clapper-bridge.
Walk
Bring your boots and walk past sheep and ponies to ancient woodland, prehistoric standing stones or to the top of a tor.
Pub
Round off your day with a visit to the highest pub in southern England, the Warren House Inn, where you can enjoy the famous fire, which has been alight since 1845.

Weather
Parts of Dartmoor are surprisingly high. The highest point, High Willhays, is at a lofty 621 metres (2,039 feet) above sea level. Powdermills is at an exposed 396m (1300 feet), and has a climate which differs a lot from the Devon low lands.
